An Affaire is Brewing Beyond the Garden of Eden

There’s a lot happening in the next week art wise in LA, so I’m preparing myself for a whole lot of composition overload and great inspiration.

This weekend is the Brewery Artwalk in Downtown LA.  I love taking my annual pilgrimage to the fascinating location and viewing the art on display curiously framed in such a great industrial setting.  There’s always something that turns my head in admiration and other works that tilt it to the side like a questioning puppy, but all in all it's certainly a worthwhile experience.  If anything, getting to see the interesting work spaces in this converted, once functioning brewery setting is worth the visit.  Everything from the loading docks to the central offices are now filled with artists and their work.  If you miss this one, don’t worry.  It takes place twice a year.

Next up…Beyond Eden is taking center stage this weekend at the Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park.  Another great venue located on top of Olive Hill in Silverlake, which overlooks the city and is the home of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House.  This year marks the second annual collaborative art fair with contributing galleries Carmichael Gallery, C.A.V.E. Gallery, Copro Gallery, Crewest, La Luz De Jesus, LeBasse Projects, and ThinkspaceIf their individual gallery openings have anything to say about what we can expect this weekend, I’m sure it’s going to be filled with tons of energy and great art.

Unfortunately, the Downtown Artwalk has been canceled for this week as it normally falls on the second Thursday of the month and will be on hiatus for the remainder of 2010, but it doesn’t stop the LA art scene from forging on. Next weekend is the fall installment of an Affaire in the Gardens located in Beverly Hills.  Complete with over two hundred and fifty exhibitors from around the world and a wine garden, this is a great addition to a weekend day.  Talking to the artists one-on-one is definitely a highlight of this event and once again, the location is everything.  You can’t go wrong with art being displayed on the picturesque backdrop of the tree-lined streets in Beverly Hills.

I can't wait for the weekend.  Enjoy the art!
